Volume. XXII, No. 7 I Will Come AgainThe Bible contains many of God’s promises. Many have been fulfilled and some are waiting to be fulfilled. We know that our God of the Bible does not lie. He cannot lie. He is TRUTH. The Bible tells us that He is faithful that promised. Every promise that is written in the Bible will come to pass. So will this promise by our Lord Himself when He Himself proclaimed, “I will come again.” He will come again as He has promised. About two thousand years ago our Lord and Saviour came into the world but the world rejected Him. His own chosen people the Jews not only rejected Him, they crucified Him. They hailed Him on Palm Sunday when He was riding on an ass into Jerusalem, yet they nailed Him on Good Friday on the cross at Calvary. Ironically, by His death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day, His Father’s will for His Son on earth was fulfilled. This very promise of God, in the book of Genesis chapter 3 verse 15, was fulfilled as promised. Our Lord’s work on the earth was accomplished. Scripture reveals to us that after His resurrection He dwelt among men for another forty days before He ascended into heaven. Scripture also tells us that Jesus Christ is now in heaven and He will come again. Yes, our Lord and Saviour will come again. He will come as He ascended about two thousand years ago. He will come in a cloud. The trumpet will sound. The dead will meet Him in the air as He descends from heaven. What a glorious wonderful day it will be. Aren’t you excited about His coming? Are you looking forward to this day? This is the blessed hope for the believers today. Some of you might ask why are you so sure Christ is coming? Didn’t the Apostle Paul preach this message to his church in Thessalonica about two thousand years ago? Yet, after over two thousand years, nothing has happened. Christ is still to be seen. We are waiting. The world is still waiting. Christ will come again. Acts of the Apostles chapter 1 verses 9 to 11 reiterates: “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven”. John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again; and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” When will He come? This is a pertinent question for all of believers, unbelievers and us alike. Look forward to His return and rejoice in the blessed hope of eternal life. If He comes today will you be with Him in Paradise? If you are still outside His Kingdom you might ask ‘how can I be saved?’ The Lord does not require you to perform superhuman feats to be saved. What He wants is for you to come to Him. Admit that you are a sinner. Acknowledge that you are a sinner. Receive and believe in Jesus Christ. Confess the Lord and repent. You will be saved. To those who have believed Paul reminds us to be watchful and sober. Paul warned us not to be complacent and fall asleep but to be watchful and continually on our guard against sin and temptation, for these abound during the days of Noah and Lot. Let us watch and act as men of God and stand upon our guard. Our Saviour also instructed His disciples of the necessity to watch, pray and remain sober. These are the words spoken by our Saviour in Luke chapter 21:34 & 36: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man”. Apart from being watchful and sober, we must be well armed “because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). During the end time Satan will use his power, eloquence, false teaching and miracles to deceive believers and unbelievers alike. True believers must put on the whole armour of God for protection. We must also remain spiritually awake and morally alert. We ought to pray without ceasing so that we can abide in the presence of the Father, having a continual cry from our heart for His grace and blessing. Lastly, we must always anticipate our Lord’s return. We must do more to promote God’s work and to save more souls with the very limited time that we have left. Evangelise. Tell all nations that the Saviour is coming soon. Let us occupy till He comes. The Master is on His way. How far can the Lord’s return be? 2 Peter 3:9 & 8 remind us, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day”. “I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there ye may be also.” This is God’s unfulfilled promise and it will come to pass.
