Volume. XXIV, No. 43 Only JesusWho is the only person in your life? Is there any person in this world whom you consider as the only one in your life? Or has any one ever told you that you are the only person in his or her life? In case you say to someone that he/she is the only person in your life, then what does it really mean? In most cases this is with reference to male-female relationship, when the boy says to the girl that she is the only girl whom he really loves and cares for in a very special way and that his relationship is much closer with her than with anybody else. Also, in a family a Parent may consider his/her child as the only person in his/her life and so devotes all his/her life for the child. So the only person in someone’s life is a very special person in someone’s eyes.
Now the Bible says that God gave His Only begotten Son, or One and Only Son, as a sacrifice for sin (John 3:16). Jesus is the Only begotten Son, or One and Only Son of the Father. Only Jesus has made God known to us.
Jesus said that He is The Only Way to the Father, the Only One who can give Life, Eternal Life and abundant Life.
Jesus is the only One worthy of our praise and adoration just as the angels sang “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” (Rev 5:12 KJV). They sang this song when there was no one else found worthy to open the scroll bearing God’s judgments and loose its seven seals, except Jesus only. And so the twenty-four elders and the four beasts around God’s throne sang – “Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;” Jesus is the Only Redeemer of God’s Elect.
Once when a paralytic was brought to Jesus to be healed, Jesus said to the paralytic - “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” He then said to the scribes who thought that Jesus was blaspheming by saying this, as only God could forgive sins – “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” (Matthew 9:2-7). There is forgiveness of sins only in the Name of Jesus Christ.
There is deliverance only in Jesus. There is true freedom only in Jesus. Only Jesus can set you free from the bondage of sin and Satan. Only Jesus can set you free from habitual sins. Only Jesus can set you free from all your addictions, from your superstitious beliefs and your passions and your evil desires. If Jesus sets you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36).
Soon after Pentecost, when Peter and John went to the Temple at Jerusalem, they healed a man who was lame from birth. After the healing He told the Jews who gathered around them in astonishment, “By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see” (Acts 3:16) There is healing only in the Name of Jesus, just as there is salvation only in the Name of Jesus. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 KJV).
Once when Jesus was with his disciples in a boat and asleep, a storm arose and the disciples were afraid and woke up Jesus. “And He (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Only Jesus can control the forces of nature as all of creation is under His subjection. “And he is before all things, and by him all things consist (or held together NIV).” (Colossians 1:17 KJV)
When Lazarus died and was buried in the tomb for four days, Jesus told Martha his sister that her brother would rise again because He is the Resurrection and the Life. He then ordered the stone to be removed from the tomb and after giving thanks to God the Father, Jesus cried out a loud voice – “Lazarus come forth”. And Lazarus, who was dead for 4 days, came back to life. No one can give life to a dead man. Only Jesus, the Author of Life.
The entire Bible focuses on One Person – Jesus Christ. It is His Story. It was He who created the Heavens and the earth in the beginning, with the Father and the Holy Spirit. It was He who was foretold as the one to be born of the woman who would bruise the Serpent’s head. All the law and the Prophets and the Psalms in the Old Testament foretold of His coming. He was then manifested in the last days as recorded in the Gospels and the Epistles in the New Testament, which then ends with the Lord Jesus Christ, and all His people in the Eternal City, the New Jerusalem.
Beloved, make Jesus the Only Person in Your life. He is the Priceless Treasure, the finest of pearls, more precious than gold, more beautiful than diamonds and nothing you desire can compare with Him. He will feed you with the finest of wheat, with honey from the rock He will satisfy you. He will give You living waters so that you will never thirst for the things of this world. He is the True bread that has come down from Heaven to give life to the world. If you follow Him, you will not walk in darkness and will never stumble but will have the light of life. He is the Good Shepherd who will lead You in to green pastures, beside the still waters, and though you should walk through the valley of the shadow of death you shall fear no evil for His rod and His staff will comfort You. With Jesus alone You have nothing to fear, because He has triumphed over all your foes and He has made You more than a conqueror. Beloved, Jesus is the only person who can truly care for You, because He is the only Person who knows You from deep inside. He knows your deepest longings and your deepest desires and all that you go through in life. He is the Only One who will never fail You nor forsake You in times of your greatest need and in times of dire distress. Your best friend or brother or father or mother may leave you, but not Jesus. Because He has loved you with an everlasting love and with loving-kindness He has drawn You toward Him. And behold, He has engraved you in the palms of His Hands and you are very precious in His sight. Only Jesus, my friend, only Jesus. We live for Jesus and we die for Jesus and we endure everything in this world for Jesus’ sake. He alone is worth living for. Jesus Only – True God and True Man, the alpha and the omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending, the One who was and who is and who is to come.
Make Jesus Only the special Person in Your life, and find eternal joy in His presence and everlasting pleasures in His Right Hand.
